More successes at Artimus Towers!

Following on from our previous post about having an air source heat pump at home, we thought it might be useful to talk about the successes we're having with battery storage added to the equation.

Our battery storage enables us to take advantage of tariffs offering reduced rate electricity. Octopus Energy have a heat pump tariff, for example, which provides a standard rate, a peak rate from 4-7pm and three periods of cheaper electricity throughout the day.

Our rates at Artimus Towers are:

Standard rate: 24.2p

Cosy rate: 11.86p

Peak rate: 35.09p

This does focus the mind to avoid using large amounts of electricity during the peak rate period.

Fran is making lots of our meals in the slow cooker and just turns it off at 4pm. So the heat pump fairy now has a new BFF - the slow cooker fairy!

Even without battery storage, this tariff should make heating with a heat pump cheaper than gas and oil, so well done Octopus. Using the battery storage further increases the potential to save money. Stuff like this brings a smile to my face and makes the naysayers grimace!
